NHYD is seeking a self-driven and highly competent Executive Director who will work with NHYD leadership to plan, manage, and execute organizational strategies, operations, and activities including electoral and advocacy programs, fundraising, and communications. The Executive Director will collaborate with the Board and Board Committees to establish short and long-term visions, priorities, strategic focus, and general scope of programs that the organization will execute. The Executive Director plays a critical role in promoting NHYD’s mission and message, maintaining positive relationships with NHYD’s activists, partner organizations, and expanding NHYD’s membership and impact. 


The Executive Director will:


  • Develop a winning, focused, and attainable strategy to recruit, train, and elect the next generation of progressive leaders

  • Ensure that NHYD raises enough money to sustain our activities and programs and that resources are spent efficiently and effectively

  • Plan, analyze, and communicate the effectiveness of NHYD programs and results to internal and external stakeholders



  • Financial Sustainability

    • Develop and implement multi-year fundraising plans in consultation with NHYD officers and finance committee

    • Plan and organize at least two large annual fundraising events a year

    • Cultivate donor relations through regular engagement with new and prospective donors and maintain an accurate donor database

  • Public Presence of NHYD

    • Build relationships to serve as a resource for state and local government officials, volunteers, constituents, and organizations involved in issues of importance to young Democrats across the state

    • Clearly communicate activities, results, and goals of the New Hampshire Young Democrats through digital platforms

    • Serve as a surrogate for NHYD to assure the organization's mission is properly presented at strategic events

  • Board Management & Engagement

    • Works with the Board and Board Committees to ensure operational alignment with short and long-term visions, policies, strategic focus, priorities, and general scope of programs the organization will execute

    • Support the development and creation of local chapters through local member meetings, trainings, and strategy sessions

    • Help hold board members and local chapter leaders accountable by co-developing roles, quantitative goals, and benchmarks to success

    • Maintain volunteer, employment and administrative policies and procedures to support day-to-day operations and long-term goals

  • Elections and Advocacy Programs

    • In coordination with Elections Chair and team, ensure NHYD Elections Program meets the needs of current electoral cycle

    • Plan, communicate, implement and track results of NHYD events to accomplish electoral and legislative priorities 

    • Serve as point-of-contact to triage candidate needs and disseminate candidate communications during election seasons and to support members of the Young Democrats Caucus and other young local electeds during off-seasons

    • Lead the effort to build a network of volunteer mentors for young democratic candidates



  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment 

  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people through various channels

  • Experience, comfort and competence in fundraising and board management

  • At least one previous cycle of campaign experience. Proficient knowledge of VoteBuilder, ActionNetwork, Canva, and popular social media platforms is preferred


The ideal candidate has 1+ cycles of campaign management, organizing, and/or finance experience. Experience in political fundraising and non-profit management is a big plus, but not required.

This is a full-time position that is currently remote but will be based in Concord, NH.
