NHYD Statement on the Inauguration of Chris Sununu as Governor of New Hampshire

January 5, 2017

Concord, NH -- The New Hampshire Young Democrats Vice President of Political Affairs Amy Kennedy released the following statement on Governor Chris Sununu's inaugural address:

"New Hampshire is a vibrant, welcoming state, and the New Hampshire Young Democrats are proud of the progress that has been made under former Governors Shaheen, Lynch, and Hassan. In order for our state to continue to grow and our families and businesses to thrive, it is vital that we continue this progress to retain and attract young people to our state."

"While we welcome the opportunity to work with Governor Sununu and his team on policies that will bring more young people into our state, we are disappointed that he ignored many of the critical policies that would accomplish that in his inaugural address today."

"Young Democrats across the state stand ready to fight against any attempts to weaken our democracy; including stripping away at a woman's right to make her own health care decisions, increasing the already high cost of a college education, and diminishing our fundamental right to vote."
