NHYD Statement on Bipartisan House Committee Vote in Favor of Family and Medical Leave Insurance

CONCORD – New Hampshire Young Democrats' Executive Director and State Representative Amelia Keane (D-Nashua) issued the following statement after today’s bipartisan 13-6 vote by the House Labor, Industrial and Rehabilitative Services committee to move forward with HB 628 to establish paid family and medical leave insurance in New Hampshire: "For years, Democrats have been fighting for our working families and to attract and retain a younger workforce. Today's bipartisan vote is a tremendous step in the right direction for this type of common sense family and medical leave insurance legislation," said Representative Keane. "This insurance program would help attract younger workers to the state by ensuring our workforce has access to the time they need to care for their health and the health of their families without jeopardizing their financial security or dropping out of the workforce. Until this legislation becomes law, we will continue to strongly advocate for this broadly supported and desperately needed paid family leave program."
